Do I need the guide if I am hiring a builder?

ABSOLUTELY! Being a well-informed client is the best way to avoid disappointment and understand how to communicate with your builder. This is custom home building... a lot of decisions will land on your shoulders. These are choices you do NOT want to give someone else the authority to make for you.

I'm planning to DIY- what will the guide help with?

If you're going to DIY then this guide will be something you'll keep by your side the ENTIRE build process. You'll be able to streamline the information you gather while planning your project and refer to it quickly when you need to answer questions.

Budget Sheet FAQ's

Can I print the budget sheet?

While the planning guide is formatted to be printed,we do not recommend printing the budget sheet.

This is an interactive budget sheet that needs to be used electronically to get the most out of your experience.

Will my lender accept the budget sheet?

YES! Lenders have told us time and again that clients who come with this budget sheet will be viewed as well-prepared! This is the level of detail and planning they like to see when considering financing your project.

Is the budget sheet just good for budgeting?

Nope, you can also use this to input REAL costs during your build. When you get to the end of your project you'll be able to see budgeted vs actual expenses.

I'm hiring a builder- should I still use the budget sheet?

We highly recommend using the budget sheet to verify the information you're receiving from your builder. Oftentimes you'll be given allowances for certain categories, and the budget sheet can help you track those expenses and make sure you stay within your budget.
